For over a decade, Make Your Move! Missoula has been training bartenders to intervene to prevent sexual violence. Alcohol is frequently used to perpetuate sexual violence, so bar staff play an important role in keeping our community safe.

During this training, staff will learn:

• How to recognize sexual aggression in bars
• How this issue impacts our community
• Workplace policies that help protect staff and patrons
• Strategies for safely intervening

The training lasts 2.5 hours. This training is open to any establishment that serves alcohol. We ask for a workshop fee of $250. If this fee is a barrier for your establishment, we are happy to work with you to get this cost covered. We do suggest that establishments pay their staff for the time they spend at this workshop.

Bar Workshop Toolkit

Sexual Violence Prevention and Response program are welcome to replicate our Bar Workshop program in their own community. We offer a toolkit that provides everything you need to get started. We do suggest that establishments pay their staff for the time they spend at this workshop.

Businesses and organizations can play an important role in preventing and reducing overdoses. Missoula Public Health staff provides free trainings on using Narcan and overdose prevention.

Participants will learn tools to prevent and reduce overdose fatalities in Missoula County. Topics include:

• Facing the Problem: An overview of the prevalence of overdose in Missoula and Montana. 
• Understanding Overdose and Opioids: Facts about overdose and opioids. 
• Narcan – A Life Saving Tool: How Naloxone/Narcan works and how and when to use it (participants will be given the option to take free Narcan)
• Other Tools and Resources to Prevent and Reduce Overdose Fatality: Local tools and resources such as Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), treatment and recovery options, as well as other harm reduction tools will be covered.

All employees who serve or sell alcohol must complete a Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service (RASS) training and receive certification within 60 days of hire and every three years thereafter.

Missoula Public Health offers a RASS training to businesses and organizations. If you are an individual needing RASS certification, please check the Montana RASS Training Calendar for upcoming trainings.

Are you looking for a sexual harassment training for employees that goes beyond legal language?

Our Sexual Harassment Prevention Training helps employees understand the line between harassment and safe, healthy, and consensual relationships. We tailor the workshop based on your industry and to the needs of your workplace. Trainings are best geared towards workplaces with young adult employees or where relationships between employees is common.

Businesses and organizations can play an important role in preventing and reducing overdoses. Missoula Public Health provides free Narcan and fentanyl test strips to help prevent and reverse overdoses.

Narcan is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids when given in time. It works to reverse overdoses caused by heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications. Missoula Public Health provides free Narcan (also know as Naloxone) and fentanyl test strips to community members, businesses, groups, and organizations (depending on supply).

The Suicide Prevention Program at Missoula Public Health works to make sure fewer people die by suicide. We do this by working with community partners on projects that increase awareness, promote prevention, and support intervention.

To help with this, Missoula Public Health gives out free gun locks, medication disposal bags, and medication lock boxes. If your business or organization would like suicide prevention materials for your staff or clients, please contact us or fill out the form below.
