Let’s Move! Missoula History

Let’s Move! was a public health campaign started by Michelle Obama in 2010. In 2013, Missoula applied to become a Let’s Move! city, and the city of Missoula invested tax funds to support a Let’s Move! position at the health department.

Projects and accomplishments of 5-2-1-0 Let’s Move! Missoula:

Missoula County BMI Surveillance Project

Let’s Move! Missoula collected the body mass index (BMI) measurements from third graders in Missoula County for 9 years. The Missoula County BMI Surveillance Project tracked our population’s health. It was not used for individual diagnoses or screening. Measurements were completely anonymous and children could opt out.

We no longer collect BMI surveillance data. If you would like to see reports and data from when the BMI Surveillance Project was active, please email [email protected].

Volunteer with Midday Move

WHY volunteer?  Studies show that having a caring adult at school can help prevent suicide and overdose later in life.  You can meet other volunteers, get outside and have FUN! To volunteer, email us at [email protected].
