What is WIC?

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is the nation’s most successful public health nutrition program. WIC provides monthly healthy food benefits, nutrition education, and community support.

Who can participate?

Income eligible individuals and families can participate in WIC.

If you receive Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF benefits you may automatically qualify for WIC!

Eligible WIC participants include:

  • Pregnant people
  • Breastfeeding people
  • People who have recently been pregnant
  • Infants
  • Children 0-5
  • NOTE: Fathers, Custodial Grandparents, Foster Parents or Guardians may apply
  • Food Distribution Program (FDPIR)
  • National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
How do I sign-up for WIC?

There is no application to fill out!

  • Identification
  • Proof of Montana residency
  • Income documentation (if you do not receive Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF)
How will I receive my benefits?

Participants receive monthly food benefits on an EBT card that can be used at WIC authorized retailers across Montana.

WIC appointments are done every three months. Additional food benefits may be added at that time.
