Outdoor Burning

The Air Quality Program at the Missoula Public Health monitors air quality and regulates outdoor air pollution sources such as: industry, wood stoves, fireplaces, outdoor burning and dusty roads.

Outdoor Burning Permits

All burns require a permit, which you may obtain and activate online using the button below. All permits cost $7.00. You can pay online using a credit card or electronic check or if you prefer to purchase your permit in person you may come in to our office at 301 W Alder on the 2nd floor.


Outdoor Burning Restriction Forecast

The General Outdoor Burn, the Essential Agriculture Burn, and the Prescribed Wildland Burn Seasons are closed. The outdoor burn season will open March 1, 2025 (subject to weather conditions).

The outdoor burning restriction forecast is subject to change as weather forecasts change. Check burn.egovmt.com for current daily restrictions.
